Swanage Comedy Festival to be sponsored by the Piddle Brewery

The Swanage Comedy Festival is set to grow as a two year exclusive sponsorship deal with local business Dorset Piddle Brewery (www.dorsetpiddlebrewery.co.uk) is announced.

The Swanage and Purbeck Hospitality Association introduced the Comedy Festival into the Swanage calendar only last October and the first event was a huge success, enabling a sizeable donation to be made to local charity, Heroes Haven. The Second Swanage Comedy Festival in March this year was only announced last week and already venues are selling out fast. So this picturesque Victorian Seaside Town will once again be rocking with laughter on the weekend of March 25th and 26th.

Dave Taylor, the main event organiser and a local resident previously ran Comedy Clubs in London. He has had his passion for running Comedy Nights re-ignited by the success of the Festival and is delighted that Dorset Piddle Brewery is on board. “We have had a great deal of fun with the launch of this Comedy Festival and the way it has been adopted by local residents and visitors alike is fantastic. The Comedians all really enjoyed themselves performing in Swanage which bodes well for future events. This partnership with Piddle will enable us to move the Comedy Festival forward as we have ambitious plans for the future…..”

Rob Martin and Paul Goldsack, Founders and Directors of Dorset Piddle Brewery based in nearby Dorset Village Piddlehinton (where else!), said: “When Julian & Dave approached us with a view to getting involved with the Swanage Comedy Festival it really was a simple choice. The event encapsulates just what Piddle Brewery is all about, bringing some fun and laughter into people’s lives… We are looking forward to a long and happy association with the Swanage Comedy Festival and intend to have a lot of fun along the way”

Vice Chairman of the Swanage & Purbeck Hospitality Association, Julian Maughan said;

“We always felt that Comedy would be well received in Swanage but the success of the event has exceeded our expectations. We have ambitious plans to expand the event over the next two years and finding a sponsor was critical to achieving those plans. We wanted to get involved with a local and growing company that shared our vision, and sense of fun! Rob & Paul and the Dorset Piddle Team certainly do that and we are thrilled to be working together to establish an enviable reputation for Swanage on the UK Comedy circuit!”

Dorset Piddle Brewery will be taking a prominent position on all promotional materials as well as producing exclusive Swanage Comedy Festival Merchandise. There has even been talk of a limited edition beer bearing the Festival logo… Whatever the future may bring, the association with Dorset Piddle is certain to give comedians appearing in Swanage plenty of outrageous material for their acts!

Euros now being accepted in Swanage and the Isle of Purbeck

The Swanage & Purbeck Hospitality Association (www.VisitSwanage.com) is fully behind the initiative backed by support from the Local Chamber of Trade as well as The Licensed Victuallers Association, to adopt a Euro Friendly approach.

Helping to persuade our European Neighbours to visit the stunning and beautiful Swanage & Isle of Purbeck coastline at the gateway of the  World Heritage Jurassic Coastline, many will be familiar with Swanage for school trips or the occasional day out, whilst visiting neighbouring Poole and Bournemouth.

Renowned for its safe sandy beaches and working steam railway, Swanage is a delightful hideaway only 2 ½ hours from London. However a revolution is brewing as this beautiful area of Dorset embraces and welcomes the increased number of overseas visitors, attracted to the UK by favourable exchange rates and value for money…

Many local businesses in the area now accept Euros (and indeed US Dollars) in payment for goods and services, minimising any inconvenience of currency exchange for our most welcome visitors.

Julian Maughan Vice Chair of the Swanage & Purbeck hospitality association says:

“By adopting an approach of minimum fuss for our Overseas Visitors we hope that their visit will be even more pleasurable.if that were possible. the local Trade & Chamber of Commerce along with the Licensed Victuallers Association welcomes the initiative and is confident that members will embrace the approach. Goods and Services can be paid for at the point of sale in Euros at the appropriate daily exchange rate, and it is envisioned that Members offering the scheme will display stickers to that effect very soon”.
