Church Knowle is located approximately 2 miles West of Corfe Castle and is reached via the A351 from Wareham. Turn right just before Corfe Castle and follow the road to the village. Church Knowle can also be reached from the Lulworth Cove direction. Built using mainly Purbeck stone, this small village has a 13th century church and manor house as well as a charming pub, The New Inn, renowned locally for its good food and well kept ale. It also has a skittle alley which is often available for hire. Also worth a visit is the animal sanctuary which can be found at the Lulworth Cove end of the village.

The area around Church Knowle is an ideal base for walking and cycling with many miles of

footpaths and bridleways. Riding and trekking centres are also nearby, and there are camping and bed and breakfast facilities in the area. The name Church Knowle comes from the knoll or round burial mound that the village church is built up on.

The Margaret Green Foundation and Animal Sanctuary

The Margaret Green Foundation Trust was founded in 1965 by the late Mr Jerry Green in order to care and provide sanctuary for unwanted, abandoned and cruelly treated animals. The Trust has developed over the years under the guidance of his daughter Miss Margaret Green, and now operates two sites in Dorset and one in Devon.

Church Knowle is reached via the A351 from Wareham, turn right just before Corfe Castle, Church Knowle can also be reached via Lulworth
