Plans are in place for a packed two week programme for the 2nd Purbeck Literary Festival. Launching on February 16th 2015 (Half Term,) until March 1st events are being put together to appeal to both readers and writers of all ages, across one of the most beautiful areas of Dorset, in a range of venues.
Festival organiser Emma Fernandez commented:
We have had the most overwhelming response, so I have been spoilt for choice in trying to develop the new programme for 2015. Hopefully everyone both local, and visiting, will get the opportunity to take part, whether that’s a library visit by a school or joining your Mum and friends at an author tea in a Hotel.
The festival will launch with a drop in, free, childrens storytelling event by Martin Maunsley at The National Trust Visitor Center, Castle View, Corfe Castle on February 16th.
Highlights of the festival to follow: include Novelist and screen writer Natasha Solomon’s at Winfrith Newburg Village Hall on Friday February 20th. Sunday Times best selling novelist Carole Mathews, will crown the two week programme, hosting a ‘bubbly afternoon,’ of chat, tea and fizz, at the wonderful Victorian, Grand Hotel Swanage on February 23rd. The hotel has a legacy to Dorset’s literary past, as Purbeck resident, Enid Blyton was a frequent tea time visitor.
The festival gives anyone a chance to explore the area, and to take part in master classes in blogging and e publishing, poetry nights, competition’s, literary walks, Q and A’s, story slams, exhibitons, drawing, music and a chance to get up close and personal with some fantastic authors in wonderful loccations. There will be laughter, books, and lots of cake!
